a few days before the 25th

[Alex's gift is one of the few that Michael didn't have to think very hard about.

At least, he came up with the idea quickly enough. After that, he did spend some time thinking about whether or not it was a good one. Is it too much? Would it be unwelcome from him in particular? Without the Oath in place, he can't even tell how Alex has been feeling lately...it's funny, how quickly he got used to having that.

In the end, he just does it. It feels like making up for something.

The package is wrapped beautifully and left outside Alex's door with the following note:]

[ Michael doesn't hear from Alex for...a few days. That's probably normal, it's the holidays, right? But, on the 26th, he receives a text. ]

[ It's...simplifying his emotions on it, how when he had time to just stop he sat with the portrait for a long time. But putting it in words is a bit harder for him.

Nevertheless. Outside is a wrapped gift, a rather large one? Upon opening it, Michael will find a deep-friar, with a note: Experiment, but don't leave me out. There's also a...little cactus thing? With another note: It's called a diffuser. It's like a candle but without the fire. A lot of people find them relaxing to sleep with, hint hint.

And...last, but not least, there's a card. Hand-drawn so it's...ech, not great. But it's inscribed with a star and the words MOST IMPROVED DEMON AWARD.

...It's most definitely not the sort of thing done in jest. ]

[Michael takes a little while to respond to this. Part of it is just that he's busy, of course; they all are. But he knows thank-yous are important - you can get a hundred different minor tortures for not doing them - so he doesn't let himself dwell on finding the correct words for too long.]

Church showed me how to make latkes earlier. I'm gonna try them in the deep fryer.

Can't say I get all of it, but gifts are fun.

Janet and I decorated for Christmas-Hanukkah when we were on Earth, but we didn't really have the time or space to do much more than that.
Pretty much everything we had went towards the humans.

I know holidays are very important to humans - they talk a lot about Christmas in particular. Don't really get the religious aspect, but the rest sounds nice.
